An introduction to the ILO Maritime Labour Convention, 2006 (MLC) from the leader of the UK shipowner team that negotiated it.

This half-day course looks at why and how the MLC was developed, the significance of the articles, regulations and code, the key provisions, methods of enforcement, amendments adopted since its entry into force and problems brought to light by the Covid-19 crisis.

Cost:
Members - £65 (VAT & booking fee applicable)
Non-Members - £105 (VAT & booking fee applicable)

The course will be presented by Chamber Policy Director Tim Springett, who led the UK employer negotiators of the MLC up to its adoption in 2006.  Tim has continued to represent shipowners in the development of subsequent amendments to the MLC and ILO guidelines, in addition to the formulation of laws to implement the MLC in the laws of the UK and the EU.
