In partnership with GMT, the second in the webinar series will take place on 8th July and is titled Keeping crew moving throughout COVID-19. Chris Podolsky, David Wonfor and Colin Robinson will present this session.
The global restrictions imposed by COVID-19 had a huge impact on the maritime industry, particularly in relation to crew changes. As countries across the world began to close their borders at the height of the pandemic, a group of maritime companies joined forces to use their collective resources to keep seafarers moving. In this webinar, representatives of three of the alliance’s key players – GMT, Inchcape and V.Ships – reflect on the huge effort still ongoing and the challenges faced to get crew on and off vessels.
Chris Podolsky has dual roles at GMT. As General Manager, North America, he leads several large operational teams including Commercial Marine, Private Yacht, Cruise Line, and Air/Sea which are geographically located between North America and Europe.
As Head of Global Sales, Chris is charged with helping grow GMT’s global market share by strategically aligning the company’s offerings with the evolving needs of our customers. He collaborates with his fellow General Managers overseeing the various travel centers and works directly with clients and prospects to ensure a high level of customer service.
Chris began his career in the cruise industry in 1985 and has worked for a number of boutique cruise lines throughout the 90’s including Dolphin Cruise Line, Renaissance Cruise Line, American Hawaii Cruises/Delta Steamboat Company. He spent 8 years with The Apollo Group as Director of Europe and USA to implement travel technology and efficiencies within the Human Resources department. Chris then joined GMT in 2010 initially as General Manager, USA and has been a pivotal asset to the team ever since.
David Wonfor is the Vice President, Global Head of Managed Services at Inchcape Shipping where he oversees a number of Commercial and Crew Logistics Hubs located in UK, USA, Singapore & India.
During his 25 year career, David has had a number of roles in the maritime sector. The last 10 years have been with Inchcape where he held numerous senior roles in Ships Agency. He is a qualified Lean 6sigma black belt and has managed a number of multi-million Dollar process improvement projects over the last 6 years.
David has been a key figure in advocating for seafarers welfare in collaboration with the Alliance of Maritime Companies in the midst of the Coronavirus pandemic.
Colin joined V.Ships in 2005 works within Business Services Team working on Crewing system and process projects within the group.
Colin is based in Glasgow.
