UK Chamber of Shipping Annual Dinner raises £5k for charity

The UK Chamber of Shipping Annual Dinner, held on Monday 7th February, raised £5,421 for the chosen charity The Mission to Seafarers.

The Mission to Seafarers provides help and support to the 1.5 million crewmen and women who face danger every day to keep our global economy afloat.

They work in over 200 ports, in more than 50 countries, helping seafarers with a wide, and diverse, range of support.

Commenting on the money raised, Jan Webber, Director of Development, The Mission to Seafarers

“We were immensely grateful to John Denholm, President of the UK Chamber of Shipping, for nominating the Mission to be the beneficiary of the Chamber Annual Dinner, and for inviting our Secretary General, Andrew Wright to say Grace.

“Seafarers are at the heart of the industry, and their welfare is paramount, even more so during these challenging times. Funds raised from the dinner will make an important contribution to our work.  It was simply great to meet so many friends after so long.”

Celebrating the news, Head of Membership at the Chamber, Tony Jerome said:

“We were honoured to have The Mission to Seafarers as our chosen charity for our Annual Dinner and absolutely thrilled we could help raise so much money. It shows the importance the people of the shipping industry attach to The Mission by seeing how much has been raised.”

The Annual Dinner took place at the JW Marriott Grosvenor House Hotel in London and images from the evening can be accessed here.
